The Internet should be a free and happy place. Unfortunately, some governments think otherwise and want to lock up anyone who says their country is a cruel, vicious bastard.
I rather like my country (Britain. Or Scotland, to be more accurate) for all its little problems. It’s nice here, the weather is interesting and no-one wants to throw me in jail for writing things like “The prime minister is a silly bum-bum” or “organised religion is stupid”. God knows what the Chinese government would think of that. I’m sure they’d find some sort of ridiculous issue with it.
And so, being totally ignorant when it comes to politics, and having only the vaguest knowledge of pro-democratic movements, I figured it would be worthwhile to mention this website, irrepressible.info, which seems to have a vaguely good plan to counter this whole thing. You too can publish little chunks of “Forbidden sites” to stick-it-to-the-man, as it were. Well, if you were a hippy, or something, you’d be sticking it to the man.
Otherwise, you can rest assured you’ll be doing your little part for making the internet a betterer and less oppressed place.
